We are delighted that 2 top European Tour players form the Midlands have expressed their support for The Eagle Tour, the newest professional tour in Britain.
David Lynn, originally form Trentham GC in Staffordshire has been on the European Tour since 1998 amassing over €8 million in prize money. He has had 2 wins, the KLM open in 2004 and last year the Portugal Masters. In 2012 David finished 2nd to Rory Mcllroy in the USPGA, only his 2nd major championship. This propelled him onto the US tour in 2013. David finished a superb 54th in the Fed Ex cup standings after a season which saw him get to a play off at the Wells Fargo championship. David will be competing in the US Masters in April and The Eagle Tour wish him all the best for the season.
David had the following to say:
‘The Midlands has been crying out for a developmental tour and finally we have one. The Eagle Tour will provide professional golfers of all levels and experience the opportunity to test their skills against quality opposition on great golf courses across the region. The structure of the tour allows the perfect cost/benefit ratio for all budgets and will create a buzz in the area I grew up playing golf.’
Oliver Wilson, originally for Coxmoor GC in Nottinghamshire first gained hid card on the European Tour in 2004 after a brilliant first season on the Challenge Tour. He has had 9 second place finished on the Tour notably in the HSBC champions, the BMW PGA championship and the Dunhill Links. In 2008 Oliver held his nerve in the final event at Gleneagles to qualify for the Ryder Cup at Valhalla in the U.S. Alongside Henrik Stenson he came back from 4 down to beat Phil Mickleson and Anthony Kim 2&1 in the second day foursomes. Oliver has also competed in 13 Majors’ and 8 WGC events. We wish him a successful season in 2014.
Oliver had the following to say about The Eagle Tour:
‘Over the years many European Tour players have started their careers on developmental tours around the world. I am delighted there is now such a tour in the Midlands. It gives new professionals a great platform to learn the skills necessary to succeed. It also provides more experienced players with an excellent and accessible series of tournaments to maximise their income. The Eagle Tour is the perfect place for all professionals to ply their trade.’
We would like to thank the two players for their support and hope they both play great golf in 2014.
