Michael Antona has won the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship qualifier at Nailcote Hall.

During a day filled with drama with no less than 3 holes in one, Sam Buss and Levi Desmond on the 9th and Will Johnson on the 6th, Antona came through a sudden death play off with Jason Groat.

Antona, playing in his first Eagle Tour event had impressively gone to 5 under par after just 8 holes. After a bogey and double bogey Michael rallied to finish 3 under par.

Groat’s round was almost the polar opposite. After reaching the turn in one over par Jason made 4 birdies in his next hole to also post a 3 under par 51 to set up the play off.

After Groat hit it just long at the first Antona hit a superb tee shot to just 3 feet and after Groat failed to rescue his par Antona calmly tapped in to win £1000, Groat took home £700.

Joining Antona and Groat in qualifying for the £100,000 Championship were Duncan Elbury and Matt Mumford after they both recorded fine 2 under par 52’s.

There were two reserve spots and these went to Matt Stephens and Rob Harris after a 6 way play off.

Many congratulations to the qualifiers and we wish you all the best in the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship on August 12/13th.

The Eagle Tour would like to pay special thanks to Rick Cressman and his fantastic team at Nailcote Hall. If you have not played there then it is a must, the most fun you can have playing golf!!!
